A festival marking the 35th anniversary of the artist’s death
Zaucha Fest is a series of events in Kraków that recalls the work of Andrzej Zaucha. Its autumn edition has been prepared in connection with the 35th anniversary of the artist’s death. The organisers have brought together concerts of varied character, drawing on both music and the stage legacy of performers associated with this tradition.
Earlier events in the festival took place, among other venues, at Klub pod Jaszczurami, where Andrzej Zaucha performed many times, as well as at other Kraków clubs and cultural institutions. The choice of venues shows that the festival combines intimate spaces with larger stages.
The Blues Brothers Music Show at Teatr Variete
On 31 October, the concert show “The Blues Brothers Music Show” is scheduled at Teatr Variete. The event was meant to recall the music and stage legacy of the duo known from the film “The Blues Brothers”, which in the festival programme is paired with the figure of Andrzej Zaucha. The festival’s title edition reflects this thread: Chicago, where the film duo’s story is set, appears in the announcement as a point of reference for the programme.
Andrzej Sikorowski at Teatr STU
On 2 November, which is All Souls’ Day, Andrzej Sikorowski, a long-time friend of Andrzej Zaucha, performed at Teatr STU. Two concerts were scheduled, which suggests audience interest in this part of the programme. The presence of an artist who was closely associated with Zaucha gives this part of the festival a reminiscent character, in line with the titular “land of nostalgia”.
Finale: the concert “Byłeś i bądź” at the Kraków Opera
The finale of this year’s series is to be the gala concert “Byłeś i bądź”, scheduled for 30 November at the Kraków Opera. The programme is to feature songs by Andrzej Zaucha performed by Igo, Renata Przemyk, Andrzej Dąbrowski, Hanka Wójciak, Jasiek Piwowarczyk and Sandra Mika.
