The showcase ‘Death in the Museum’ explores how mourning is experienced and remembrance of the dead is observed in different parts of the world. The event takes place on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, at Ratusz Kazimierski, Plac Wolnica 1. Admission is free.
The showcase presents objects from the Muzeum Etnograficzne w Krakowie collection that are not normally on public display. The museum’s holdings, which number over 85,000 items and have been gathered for more than 100 years, show that death and mourning can be portrayed in many ways: not only as subjects for reflection, but also in connection with carnival festivities.
The exhibition is available for one evening only. An introduction to its themes will be given by the curators of the Muzeum Etnograficzne w Krakowie.
The event is organised as part of the ‘15 na 115’ cycle.
