The exhibition ‘Pieśń to wielka, pieśń – tworzenie’ is inspired by Adam Mickiewicz’s drama ‘Dziady’. It forms part of this year’s Narodowe Czytanie campaign. The opening took place on 5 September 2026 at 13:00 at the Wojewódzka Biblioteka Publiczna.
The artists did not illustrate the drama literally. Each of the paintings on display is an individual, artistic interpretation of a chosen passage from the work. The pieces engage with themes from ‘Dziady’, such as memory, spirituality, love, guilt and transience, and the artists have translated Mickiewicz’s words into colour, light, form and symbol.
The exhibition features works by Natalia Biesiada-Myszak, Karolina Bochenek, Jan Bosak, Gabriela Buzek-Garzyńska, Małgorzata Gawarecka, Agata Lis, Magdalena Nałęcz, Lucjan Orzech, Kinga Piwowarczyk, Magdalena Włodarczyk and Bartłomiej Zięba.
Each painting is accompanied by a QR code. By scanning it, visitors can listen to the passage from ‘Dziady’ that inspired the work and compare it with the painting.
The exhibition is open from 5 September to 3 November 2026 on the first floor of the Wojewódzka Biblioteka Publiczna at ul. Rajskiej 1, in the right-hand wing of the building. The source does not provide opening hours for the exhibition or information about admission.
